WINE TOURISM : OLIVIER LEFLAIVE GOES UP A GEAR

As a specialist in white wines from the Côte de Beaune and a pioneer in wine tourism, Olivier Leflaive intends to stay one step ahead, whatever the circumstances. It has just inaugurated a hotel and a truly gastronomie restaurant in the heart of Puligny-Montrachet. The site has a wine bar where you can also taste wines from other winegrowers. Julie Leflaive, Olivier’s daughter, explains the process: “We went to see what was being clone elsewhere in the world in ter ms of wine tourism. It seemed essential to us to develop what my father had launched. I wanted the hotel-restaurant to be comfortable but also to remain a family run business. This is essential to make people love Bourgogne as much as possible. We have also created a bar so that customers can sit, share with the sommeliers and eat. We also wanted them to be able to choose between different menus and a large choice of wines. That’s how we opened up to other wine grower friends, who are now present on the menu.” 

Jean Soubeyrand, president of the company, explains the desire thus materialised: “Wine tourism is a very specific activity that requires a lot of investment and personnel. It is sometimes exhausting but it is also a real passion. Our passion is to see our customers corne back and leave with a smile up to their ears. Because they have had a tasting, a culinary experience, have walked through the vineyards. They had a real experience. Our clients have a passion for Bourgogne. It is essential to develop a warm welcome in our beautiful region”.
